Katy Perry dan Carly Rae Jepsen Raih Penghargaan 'Billboard's Women In Music'

Katy raih penghargaan Women of The Year dan berkata dia tak terlalu suka memanggil dirinya sebagai panutan semua orang, sementara Carly mendapat penghargaan Rising Star Award.

Katy Perry dan Carly Rae Jepsen raih penghargaan dalam acara "Billboard's Women In Music 2012" yang diselenggarakan di New York, 30 November. Katy meraih penghargaan Woman of the Year sementara Carly mendapat Rising Star Award.

"Aku bukan feminis, tapi aku yakin wanita memiliki kekuatannya sendiri," ucap Katy saat menerima penghargaan tersebut. "Aku tidak terlalu suka memanggil diriku sebagai panutan untuk fans. Aku berharap menjadi inspirasi bagi mereka, terutama wanita muda. Mantraku adalah, 'Jika kau percaya dirimu, kau bisa jadi apapun'."

Sementara itu Carly menyebutkan presiden Interscope, Brenda Romano, dalam ucapan terimakasihnya. "Dan terlebih lagi ibuku, wanita yang amat berpengaruh dalam hidupku. Serta ibu tiriku. Penghargaan ini untuk kalian," ucapnya.

Dengan ini nama Katy dan Carly masuk dalam jajaran orang-orang yang telah mendapat penghargaan bergengsi serupa seperti Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Stacy Ferguson, Beyonce Knowles dan Lady GaGa. "Jadi untuk Katy dan Carly, tak ada tekanan untuk kalian," ujar direktur editorial Billboard, Bill Werde.
